Konkan Pratibha Spordho - 2002 by Mangalore Konkans, Dubai



"To create a platform for encouragement of talent, within the Konkani community, and to create an awareness of the plethora talent available in the UAE"

Mangalore Konkans, a Konkani household name in the UAE was proud to present a much-awaited talent show on the September 27th, 2002 at the Indian consulate auditorium, Dubai. People turned up in large number to take a glimpse on the budding talents who have risen up to the expectations of their parents and now ready to take on to the outer horizon. A well placed show, nicely organized, brilliantly judged and good contestants, what more you expect from a show like this!



The show was divided into two parts - morning session and after-noon session. The morning's show was exclusively for kids from age 6 up to 18 yrs who participated in various events of different age groups. The show started at 10 am by a welcome speech from Vanessa Peris & Claudia Vaz. "Mankanchi Madhoor Gayana" was the first solo singing event that took place where kids between 6 yrs - 9 yrs participated in huge number before the judges. This event was sponsored by Mr. Mark Denis D'souza of Fortuna Engineerinf L.L.C. Children of age 10 yrs-13 yrs participated in the next event "Yuvazananchi Madhoor Gayana" which was sponsored by Mr. Peter D'souza of Hatta Garage. There was a special event "Gifted Orator" for teenagers that was conducted in English where the children were asked to speak on a particular subject for a short duration of 4 minutes. "Yuvazanancho nach", Konkan basha quiz" took place during the morning session that concluded at 13.30 hrs.

 

Morning event was jointly compered by Walter Nandalike and Errol Goveas

Evening's show was even more excited with 3 main events for adults aged 19 yrs and above. These were "Nakli nesnan spordho", "Wodhanchi zamya gayanah" & "Ek-Ankh natkulleh", all the participants showed their performance brilliantly and the crowd fully enjoyed the show.

President of Mangalore Konkans, Mr. Valerian Peris thanked chief guests, sponsors and mainly the audience who made this a memorable one in the history of Mangaloreans living in UAE.
The evening event was compered by Walter Nandalike.
