Austin D'Souza's Kick-off Party:
Chicago's first Indian origin Vice District Governor

Chicago, February 25: In its 85 years of Lionistic history, Lion Austin is the first person from Indian origin to contest for the candidacy of Vice District Governor of District 1-A.  The Skylite West Banquet Hall was full and all the dignitaries of District 1-A were marveled by the success of the Gala Kick-off Party thrown for the fund raising of Lion Austin D'Souza's  candidacy for Vice District Governor of District 1-A.  This is the first time in District 1-A's history 26 clubs of the District endorsed Lion Austin's candidature for Vice District Governor.   This list of endorsements was read by Lion Dennis McMillan. 

These programs attracted not only Lions from throughout 94 clubs of the District but also were present several past District Governors along with Past International Director, Lion Phil Tom and his wife Betty.   All the Lions gathered endorsed their support to Lion Austin.   There were several games and raffles conducted during this gala event.   The participants thoroughly enjoyed the various games and the fellowship of other Lions of the District.   There were some prominent members of the Indian community, who were present to show their support and encouragement to Lion Austin in his venture.

The Party is well organized by the Kick-off Party committee members, under the effective leadership of Lion Vissia D'Souza.   Leo Atina D'Souza was dressed-up in Lion costume and entertained the children and Lions present with her sweet greetings.

Lion Vissia D'Souza introduced the candidacy of Lion Austin for the coveted position of Vice District Governor of District 1-A.  Lion Austin responded to Lion Vissia's highly acclaimed introduction of him and acknowledged profound support  that he has received from the dignitaries of District 1-A.  He affirmed his commitment to District 1-A and proclaimed that the Diversity of the District has made it the unique district of Lionism and he will work hard to unify it, to achieve the glory that it deserves as a Mother District of Lionism.  

He reiterated that his mission is "Unity in Diversity" and his primary objective is to, "Keep the Flame Burning Bright."  He stated that with the help of Diversity of Lions present in the District, he has no doubt to achieve his goal to keep the spirit of Lionism burning bright in the District.   He summoned the Lions to ask the community people to join the club.   He stated that do not keep our Lions Club a top secret in the community but to let it grow and flourish by asking others to join the club to achieve the Lions motto of 'We Serve'.  He thanked all the members present in the Party for their support and commitment in strengthening his campaign.

All the members present enjoyed the buffet luncheon.   There were several door prizes and Raffle prizes.   The winners list of the Door prizes were announced by Lion Dennis McMillan and that of Raffle prizes were announced by Lion Ray Jachim.  DJ Nil (Leo Anil D'Souza) provided his live music to soothe the souls of the Lions and guests present.
