Kalam to inaugurate Rs 6 cr IT
block in St Aloysius College

President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam will declare open the Rs 6 crore
Information Technology (IT) block of St Aloysius College on
January 12 next year, Defence Minister George Fernandes said
during his private visit to the college of which he is an
alumni.
Fernandes makes it a point to visit the college whenever he
finds a respite. Fernandes who had his lunch at the campus at
the invitation of the organisation of the Jesuits told the
college authorities that the President had agreed to declare
open the IT block on January 12 which is also the founding day
of the college.
Dr Kalam will be the second President to visit the college. The
then President Sanjiva Reddy had visited the college on the same
day in 1980 to declare open the centenary celebrations of the
college and had inaugurated the centenary memorial block of the
college.
The IT block which is a unique addition to the sprawling St
Aloysius College campus will house various disciplines including
MCA, BCA, MBA and Bio informatics, according to Fr Denzil Lobo,
college vice principal and Director, AICS.
The IT block when completed will have a well furnished library,
computer centre and an auditorium which could be used by the
public also to hold seminars and workshops, Fr Denzil Lobo said
speaking to the correspondents.
