RAYMOND D'SOUZA OF ABU DHABI - HONOURED

Abu Dhabi - Mr. Raymond D'Souza - a promiment Mangalorean from Abu Dhabi was honoured By Mr. B. R. Shetty - Vice Chairman & Managing Director of NMC Group of Companies, on Karnataka Rajothsava Day - on Friday, November 1st 2002 for his service to the Konkani and Kannada communities .

Karnataka Rajothsava - a full day celebration organized by the Kannada Sangha - Abu Dhabi held on 1st November, at the India Social Centre - Abu Dhabi in the presence of packed audience of Kannadigas, Konkanas, Tuluvas and other communities of Karnataka. The variety of programmes to depict the diversities of Karnataka State were presented in a grand way.

The days proceedings started with the lighting of the traditional lamp and the welcome speech by Mr. Sarvotham Shetty. The famous writer Mr. Bannanje Govindacharya and Mr. Gururaj - Editor of Udayavani Daily of Mangalore were the chief Guests.

During this occasion, Mr. Raymond D'Souza - the senior member of the Sangha, a prominent organizer, and the founder member and ex-President of K.W.O. Abu Dhabi (the present K.C.O), who is departing Abu Dhabi for India, on retirement, was honoured by Mr. B. R. Shetty, by offering flowers, fruits, shawl and with a memento. Dr. (Mrs) Chadrakumari Shetty honoured Mrs. Benny D'Souza wife of Mr. Raymond D'Souza with a bouquet of flowers. Mr. Shrinivas Achar briefed the achievements and service of Mr. D'souza to the community.

In reply Mr. D'Souza thanked the Office Bearers and Members of the Karnataka Sangha for their support and said, his coming to the gulf was for a better future for himself and for his family and with the Gods grace his all dreams have come true and he is a happy and contented man to return to Mangalore - India with fond memories of the people of Abu Dhabi.

Mr. B. R. Shetty wished Mr. D'Souza well and thanked him for his service.

Mr. Ananth and Mr. Manohar Thonse compered the programme.
