Sampath Lions Celebrate Governor's visit and Christmas Party

The Broadview Kala Sampath Lions Club of District 1-A, mother district of
Lionism celebrated its 7th Governor's Visit, Community Awards and Christmas
Party at Old Warsaw Banquet Hall of Broadview, Illinois.
Following Invocation led by Lion Dorothy Rego, President of the club Lion
Stany D'Souza, welcomed the gathering with his brief welcome note.
Secretary Lion Queenie Mendonca read and presented a brief annual report of
its accomplishments to the Chief Guest of the program Governor, Lion Ralph
Koller. The Governor and his wife, First Lady, Lion Millie Koller were
introduced by Region Chairman Lion Austin Prabhu. The Governor, in his
guest speaker's note, informed the gathering about positive strides in
membership drive accomplished by the member clubs of the mother district, in
spite of adverse onslaught of membership to Lionism worldwide.
As a hallmark of its celebrations, Kala Sampath Lions bestowed the awards of
Best Police Officer and Best Fire Fighter to Officer Daniel Conforti and
Captain Brian Clish respectively, of Broadview Village. Awardees were
introduced by their respective Chiefs, Police Chief Larry Scott and the Fire
Chief John Tierny. They both solemnly thanked the members of Kala
Sampath Lions for their distinguished achievements in community service and
their recognition and encouragement to the Officers of their respective
Departments. Both awardees were humbled and flabbergasted by the honor
showered upon them by the Kala Sampath Lions and thanked for their generous
gifts and honor.
Kala Sampath 'Cousins' entertained the gathering with their thrilling
Konkani Maando Dance and Christmas Songs.
Lion Austin Prabhu led the Christmas Carols and as the carols rolled in with
holiday spirit and thump, Jingle Bells was sung which, clicked Santa's
arrival from North Pole! All children were mesmerized and thrilled
with excitement with Santa's arrival and all of them received a memorable
Christmas gift from Santa. As the Christmas spirit filled the hall,
door and raffle prizes were announced. The raffle was organized by
Lion Lin Martis. As a befitting conclusion to the success of the
program, Lion Tamer, Lion Allen Martis thanked the guests, awardees, Lions
and Leos for their wonderful contribution to the grand finale of this unique
program.
The participants of the program then danced to the wonderful hit songs and
music of Konkani, Hindi and English language, presented by Leo DJ Nil (Anil
D'Souza). This program's Master of Ceremony was effectively maneuvered
