Abu Dhabi – 18 October 2002
- Mr. Michael D’Silva the veteran dynamic leader, was elected as the New
President of Konkani Cultural Organization (K.C.O), the premier Konkani
association of Abu Dhabi, U.A.E., during their annual general body meeting
held here in Abu Dhabi on Friday 18th October 2002.
During the same occasion, Mr. Oswald M. D’Souza was elected as the General
Secretary and Mr. Gerald D’Mello as the Treasurer.
The above three stalwarts are distinguished in their fields and have
contributed immensely to the Mangalorean Konkani community during the past
several years and are very active in the social circle within the U.A.E.
Their experience and hard work will definitely give an extra boost to K.C.O.
The outgoing President Mr. Leo Rodrigues, who is also one of the founder
members of the association, thanked all the members for their selfless
service and wished the new President, the General Secretary and the
Treasurer all success during their forthcoming one year term.
Other office bearers for various posts will be selected by the above elected
members within the next week.
K.C.O. has contributed enormously to the cause of Konkani language, its
culture, traditions and is involved in various social, religious and
charitable activities in Mangalore as well as within the U.A.E., which have
earned them a good name and has become a role model to other contemporary
associations.
