Konkani Bhasha Mandal & Divo celebrate
Mumbai, August 16: Konkani Bhasha Mandal (R), Mumbai and Divo Konkani Weekly magazine celebrated 10th Konkani Recognition Day at Vidyavihar Kirole Fathima Auditorium with "Hasya Kavi Sammellan" and symposium. Poets M/S. J. B. Moraes, V. D'Silva, J. B. Sequeira, Neri Nazareth, Lawrence D'Souza Kamani, Valerian Pinto, Navin Kulshekar, Sudhir Kodkani, Rons Bantwal, N. D. Sondhe too part in hasya kavi sammellan. Mr. Gregoury D'Souza compered the programme and Mr. P. Vaz proposed vote of thanks.Mumbai contributed in big times for the development of Konkani. We should see Konkani's progress through Dev Nagari script and should give knowledge to our children and work together said Mr. Philip Neri D'Souza in his speech. He spoke on, "Konkani Bhasha Mandal's efforts in bringing together all Konkani associations." Mr. Leo Fernandes, Jerimeri; Mrs. Sheela Kolamkar; Mr. Faustine D'Costa; Mr. Sudhir Kodkani and Mr. Valerian Pinto took part in the symposium. Second symposium was on, "Our stage plays - what we earned and what we lost" was conducted under the leadership of Mr. Lawrence D'Souza, Kamani. In this M/S. Henry D'Silva, Surathkal; Mr. Shawn D'Souza and Mr. Henry D'Paula, Kanjurmarg took part. Concluding programme was took place under the presidentship of Mr. Felicio Cardoza. Chief guest Mrs. Pushpa Karmali said that if our stage plays come up with new ideas instead of same old fashioned stereotypes, we can attract younger crowd. By doing this we can grow language and improve Konkani she said. Mr. Lawrence Coelho, editor of Divo Weekly was the honourary guest.
GSB Sabha
celebrates 68th Founder's Day Mumbai, August 16: GSB Sabha, Mumbai celebrated their 68th Founder's Day. Padmashri Award winner scientist Mr. H. S. Kamath was the chief guest for the programme. In this modern era, students are getting all the facilities; they should make use of this for the betterment of improving their life said Mr. Kamath in his speech. In this competitive age, there is no end for education and knowledge; parents should become role models to their children he added. Those who helped GSB Sabha were felicitated by Mr. Kamath with memento. Mrs. Maya Nayak, Ms. Laxmi Nayak, Ms. Shantheri Nayak took part in invocation and started the programme. Mr. S. T. Shenoy read report and Mr. P. M. Nayak proposed vote of thanks.
