Mumbai based, Maharashtra Konkan Association organised a cultural   evening
in  Konkani entitled "KONKANI NITE" on 14th April 2002 at Andheri, Mumbai.
 The event was organised in memory of Late Jerome D'Souza, a wellknown   singer
and  composer of songs in Konkani.

 A number of welknown singers participated in the programme include   Victor Concesso, Lola Fernandes, Reena (Late Jerome D'Souza's  daughter), Kenny, Denis D'Souza, Anjelina, Baby Velita, Karen and  others entertained the audience with a variety of Konkani songs and  mimicries. Mr. Vincent Mathias, Chairman of Christian Chamber of  commerce was the Chief  Guest on the occasion. Newly elected Mangalorean Congress corporator   Mrs. Wnny B.. D'Souza and Mrs. Francis Fernandes Cascia were honoured  on this occasion. Mr. Francis is confired with the title  'Konkani Vag' Lion  of Konkani). Mr. Henry D'Paula, Mr. Henry D'Souza, Mrs. Gladys Rego and  Mr. Henry F. Crasto were the Guests of honour on the occasion.

 MKA   Chairman Mr.  Leo D'Souza and Vice President Walter D'Souza were also present on the   stage. Late Priya D'Paula memorial awards were presented during the  programme to the winners of competition which was held earlier by Mr.  Henry D'Paula, Mrs.  Paula, Miss Prafulla and Mrs. Susan Coelho.
