‘BORPI MITHR TOKEN OF APPRECIATION’ to

World’s renowned Konkanni activist, a man fighting vigorously for the survival of Konkanni language, culture and its heritage, Vishw Konkanni Kala Ratn Shri Eric Ozario has been awarded the coveted “Borpi Mithr Puraskar-2002” award.  This was announced during “Darbar-2002” programme, an event that has created a history in the Konkanni Music world, in Mangalore on 15th December 2002 .  This award consists of Rs.30,000/- in cash, a letter of honour and a memento.  The “ Borpi Mithr Puraskar” award was introduced by Borpi Mithr, a Konkanni writer’s forum in Muscat last year.  Shri Walter D’Souza, Nandalike the brain behind Daijidubai/Konkandaiz.com was the first winner of this prestigious award for his great contribution to Konkanni. 

In addition to this award Borpi Mithr have honoured Konkanni Nataratn Shri Sunny A. D’Souza and late Gabbu, Urwa, the two prominent Konkanni writers and great stage artistes who have contributed immensely for our maaibhaas Konkanni.  This Borpi Mithr token of appreciation consists of Rs.10,000/- each in cash and a letter of honour.

As per the information received from Mr.Clarence, Kaikamba the convener of Borpi Mithr, the winner of this award was decided based on the nominations received from the general public.  All nominations were carefully scrutinized by ‘Borpi Mithr Special Committee’ and final decision was made based on following points :

      1.    Contribution for Konkanni language, literature and culture.

2.    Selfless and dedicated service

3.    Creative thinking and their work

4.    Current financial position

5.    Anticipated service for Konkanni

6.    Recommendations from general public

The entire Konkanni community around the globe is proud of  Shri Eric Ozario, the winner of “Borpi Mithr Puraskar-2002” award and wish him many laurels in his future endeavours in the service of our dear ‘Maaibhaas Konkanni’.
