Vamanjoor Parish walked away with most of
the honours at the first ever " MINI Konkani Nite" competition recently
held in Don Bosco Hall Mangalore and organised by Kala Sampat. Each group
was restricted to sixty minutes, laced with all ingredients of
entertainment unlimited. Variety of songs, mimicry, comedy and comparing
opened up a new vista for lots of up coming talents.
Kala Sampat - is an organisation, which is wholly dedicated to Konkani
performing arts and encouraging sports. Started back in 1980 by a group of
enthusiastic youngsters headed by Austin D'Souza Prabhu and Arthur
D'Souza. For the last 16 years Kala Sampat organised Konkan drama
competitions on Mangalore diocesan level, which had to be aborted in
recent years due to lack of response from participating groups.
Now the Mini Nite competition. Very soon Kala Sampat is planning to
organise a diocesan level sports meet. Hectic arrangements are on.
