
Austin for Asian American Hall of Fame
Chicago, March 12: Well-known activist of
Mangalorean Konkani Community and Mangalore born journalist and youth
leader, Austin D'Souza Prabhu, Ph.D. has been selected to induct into the
Asian American Hall of Fame for the Year 2003 as Hall of Famer in
Community Service. His name has been approved by the Hall of Fame Awards &
Screening Committee.
Asian American Hall of Fame, Inc., in their letter to Dr. Austin said
that: "You certainly deserve the honor that the Hall of Fame shall confer
on you, and we strongly believe that your induction will positively
reflect on the Hall of Fame. Indeed, the honor is mutual: you shall wear
this Hall of Fame award as a badge of honor, but in return your inclusion
on its roster adds further glory and luster of the award. The prestige and
significance that is attached to the award, needless to say, further
strengthens and enhances the title, "Hall of Famer," with your on its
rolls."
Awards night is Saturday, May 10, 2003, at the Radisson Hotel O'Hare grand
ballroom, where Dr. Austin will be given a plaque and a medallion. Under
the auspices of Fil-Am TV Show, a television production which is geared
for community and public service, Asian American Hall of Fame, Inc. is
holding annual program to honor Hall of Famers in Mid-West America.
For community services, Dr. Austin received several awards, medals and
certificates from local, district, state and international associations.
His biography has been published by Marquis Who's Who in their several
publications like Who's Who in the Midwest, Who's Who in America and Who's
Who in the World since 1994 every year. Currently he is the candidate for
District Vice Governor, Lions District 1-A, Lions Region Chairman,
President of Mangalorean Konkan Christian Association, Treasurer of the
Federation of Indo-American Christian Associations of North America and
advisor of International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, England; Forest
Park Leo Club; India Catholic Association of America, etc. He is involved
in several associations and organizations and is dedicated to serve the
needy and less fortunate.
