Gerry
D`Mello - Popular Konkan in Muscat

Gerry D' Mello is a name
loved and respected by all Mangaloreans residing in Muscat.
One can see him at every Mangalorean gathering in Muscat,
contributing his talents and making the occasion livelier and
richer.
Gerry's love for Konkani language is very well known to
everybody. Konkani flows from his speech like milk and honey
when he comperes any event in Konkani or tries to express
himself in lyric poems. He is constantly in search of an
efficient forum to express his Konkani talents. He is one of
the founder members of Mangalorean Catholic Center of the
Parish (MCCP) and has been its vibrant member since its
inception. He is also a founder member of " Borpi Mithr", a
local Konkani Writers forum, which works for Konkani Literary
movement in various ways. Gerry has a penchant for journalism
and e-media technology. He has uplifted MCCP to the portals of
the internet by regularly publishing its activities on the
website of www.daijidubai.com.
Gerry also reveals an administrative streak in his character.
He is the incumbent Vice-president in the Parish Council of
Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Ruwi and planning and coordinating
its various activities in the current silver jubilee year of
the Parish.
Hailing from religiously devout family from Bendoor,
Mangalore, Gerry takes keen interest in religious matters. He
is an Eucharistic Minister in the Ruwi Parish, and an active
member of the Charismatic prayer group.
Gerry is a resident of Muscat since last 17years and works for
a reputed Insurance Company in a responsible position. His
wife, Lucy, is working in a Government Organization in Muscat.
She has been a great moral support to him. They have four
children schooling in Muscat. In spite of his busy social
schedules, he is an exemplary family man caring tenderly for
his wife and children.
In recognition of his devoted service and exemplary qualities,
MCCP honored him in special way at its annual day held on 10th
May 2002. He was presented with a memento by the chief guest
of honor Rev. Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves.
