Old Memories Relived – Konkani Drama 'Kazarachem Utor' Replayed After 25 Years
Canarite Youth Association (Mumbai) Celebrates Its Silver Jubilee

Mumbai's Konkani speaking community re-enacted one of their old memories, when the then young, energetic and raw team of eight dramatists, re-played their performance after a span of twenty-five years in the form of Konkani Drama 'Kazarachem Utaar'. Some artists looked aged and over-riped, but the exuberance and exultation were same!
The occasion was twenty fifth anniversary of Canarite Youth Association, an exclusive organisation serving the Konkani theatrical art form. The venue was Vile Parle's Baydas Auditorium and the day was Monday, November 4th, at 10.30 am.

It was a swarming event, as the Auditorium was overwhelmed with art lovers and about three hundred people had to return home without being able to obtain tickets! On this day, many Konkani stage artists were honoured. The Emperor of Konkani drama world Sri Francis Fernandes Cassia was honoured with title "Kala Shree" with the offering of fruits and flowers, a certificate of honour and shawl, for dedicating his life for Konkani theatre. The stars who performed "Kazarachem Utaar" – Pintaam Derebail, Harry D'Souza, Edwin Banz, Lola Fernandes, Harryboy, Robert Noronha, Julie Vaz and Molly Lobo were introduced individually and were honoured with shawls. Sri Maxim Mathias was also respected for his dis tinctive service rendered towards Konkani.

Many shool children, for their outstanding performances in curricular as well as in co-curricular activities were awarded individually with cash gifts and mementos.
Other attractions as part of entertainment were comedy performance by Sri Francis Fernandes Cassia and Harry Boy, live musical performances by Victor Concesso, Ivan Sequeira and their teams. Babush rendered music score.
Honor for Cascia
Many dignitaries were also present at the occasion. Sri Rony Goveas (businessman) shone on the stage as the chief guest and many honourary guests like Sri H.J. Goveas (writer), Sri Lawrence Coelho (Editor, 'Divo' Konkani weekly) Sri Albert D'Souza (Director, Printania Offset Pvt. Ltd.), Sri Henry D'Paula (Sub-editor, 'Divo' Konkani weekly), Sri Maxim Mathias, Sri Francis Rasquinha (both businessmen) decorated the stage with their presence.
This unforgettable event concluded at 2.30 pm. The programme was compeered by Rons Bantwal, Naveen Kulshekar and Joy Paladka.
