VICAR GENERAL MONSIGNOR
FRED PEREIRA VISITS KUWAIT

The Catholic Community known for its
service in the fields of Health and Education in India has made
significant contribution to educating people across the spectrum of
religions/castes, which in turn has resulted in the development of
backward/tribal areas of the Country. True to the selfless mission of
Catholicism, the focus always remained and continues to be on the primary
education of masses. Needless to say, Missionaries from Mangalore Diocese
have played a major role in establishing prestigious catholic institutions
throughout the Country.
Realizing the need for catholic community to establish Institutions of
professional courses in Mangalore, our beloved Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr.
Aloysius Paul D'Souza initiated the long awaited Engineering College
Project and thus comes St. Joseph Engineering College into existence, a
dream realized. Monsignor Fred Pereira, a humble and hard working Priest,
who has trekked his way up to become Vicar General of Mangalore Diocese
was befittingly appointed as the Convenor of the Project.
As part of his mission to meet and thank people for their support and
contributions towards the project, Fr. Fred Pereira is visiting Kuwait
from 13th to the 18th of November, during which, he intends to address a
gathering of benefactors, aspiring candidates and/or their parents,
well-wishers and particularly his own Dioceseans. It is also an excellent
opportunity for all Mangaloreans to express their grievances related not
only to admissions to the engineering college but also other community
related matters, which fall under his capacity as Vicar General.
Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA), an umbrella organization of
predominantly catholic NRIs from Mangalore, which has also been working
tirelessly for the cause of primary education of underprivileged children,
is proud to host his visit to Kuwait. To be welcomed at the Kuwait
International Airport on Wednesday the 13th by KCWA management committee
members and well wishers, Fr. Fred will be a guest of honor for the KCWA
Management committee meeting to be held on Thursday the 14th November
2002.
KCWA takes pleasure in inviting all concerned for
a gathering in Indian Public School Auditorium Salmiah, on Friday the 15th
November 2002 at 10.30AM.
