Chicago, January 11: Mangalorean Konkan Christian Association of America is planning celebration for Easter on April 26, 2003. MKCA founders are in full swing after their successful Christmas Celebration on December 21, 2002. As per president Austin Prabhu, MKCA's mission is, "to promote, cultivate, maintain and preserve Konkani heritage, culture, tradition and language and also, to instill and nurture educational and professional development of younger generation in Chicagoland."

"We are not a threat to any existing Indian Christian/Catholic association in Chicagoland" said Lawrence Mascarenhas, secretary of MKCA replying to a question of rumors by one member. "We in fact want to work with all Indian associations no matter of their caste, creed and religion. Our motto is to promote Konkani" he added. It was learned that after organizing successful programs by MKCA, one association's some members are thinking that it is a threat to their foundation. "Konkan Christians never had their own identity in Chicagoland and now we have established that to promote our interests" said Godwin Rego, treasurer.
