The Konakni Organisations in the middle east have been supporting the konkani cause throughout the past many years.  Though they are bringing out Special Issues of various konkani magazines during special occasions, the idea of honouring and awarding konkani writers was initiated by Daiji Dubai - the forum of Konkani Writers in the UAE in the year 2000, which was then followed by Borpi Mitr of Muscat and now Konkani Kuttom of Bahrain.  Konkani Kullvar of Kuwait has also got similar ideas on its agenda - it is learnt.
