Maurice D'Sa - who in his mid 30's, really
deserves the award, for he has rejuvenated the drying and dying stream of
konkani journalism, through his magazines 'Umallo' earlier, and now 'Kannik'
fornightly.
Sri Maurice D'Sa has served the cause of
Konkani as a full time journalist in various capacities & talents. He has

He has proved in the capacity of a good
organizer of various Konkani shows.
The Konakni Organisations in the middle east
have been supporting the konkani cause throughout the past many years.
Though they are bringing out Special Issues of various konkani magazines
during special occasions, the idea of honouring and awarding konkani
writers was initiated by Daiji Dubai - the forum of Konkani Writers in the
UAE in the year 2000, which was then followed by Borpi Mitr of Muscat and
now Konkani Kuttom of Bahrain. Konkani Kullvar of Kuwait has also got
similar ideas on its agenda - it is learnt.
