'Industries
welcome to open shop in New York'
The demand for the IT goods produced in Bangalore outweighs the demand for that produced elsewhere. Under the circumstances, the New York mayor is only too willing to help Bangalore companies set up shop in New York, she said. Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Large and Medium Industries R. V. Deshpande said that Karnataka was the most progressive State in the country today. It is a leading State in terms of human resources producing some 30,000 engineering graduates every year. The basic infrastructure facilities in the State like roads are being strengthened. Already some 140 multinational companies are operating here and the State is looking at welcoming more of them, he said. The process of market reforms was on in Karnataka much before it was officially initiated in 1991, today it is in the forefront and there is no question of going back on it, he said. The programme was also attended by Secretary for Information Technology Vivek Kulkarni.
