RAJYOTSAVA AWARD IN BAHRAIN TO RICHARD MORAS

Richard Moras receiving the prestigious award

The year, 2002, has not only been a joyous one for Bahrain Kannada Sangha (BKS) because of Silver Jubilee Celebrations, but has also been a proud moment for this institution because it has been conferred the prestigious "Rajyotsava Award" by the Government of Karnataka. To commemorate this joyous event BKS has felicitated three sons of the soil, working and residing in Bahrain, with "Rajyotsava Award" for their selfless service to noble causes.

One of the three is Mr. Richard Moras, who believes in the adage, "give maximum and expect the minimum". Mr. Moras is not only known in the kingdom of Bahrain but also back home in his native place for his achievements and good deeds. Mr. Moras has always been impartial in expressing his opinions, logical in thinking and speaks his mind without fear or favour. Mr. Moras' letters appearing in the regional press shows his patriotism for his motherland and does not shudder to express his views.

Being the son of an educationist, who headed an educational institution for over 35 years, Mr. Moras has displayed his versatile talents and organizational abilities by getting involved in school committees, parish councils and later as Vice-President of Yuva Janata Party, a wing of a main political party in India. In addition, he has also been associated in various other activities.

In Bahrain, he has been instrumental in forming a voluntary forum known as "Konkani Kutamb", which when translated means "Konkani Family", to promote culture and to encourage young talented writers and artists of Konkani language. Moreover, he has crusaded in generous drives for needy and social causes.

This felicitation would spur Mr. Moras to put further efforts and work tirelessly for needy and deserving causes and for the good of the community in particular and mankind in general.

While offering hearty congratulations, we wish Mr. Moras continued success and pray that he scales further heights and his voluntary services are recognized with further awards and accolades.
