Henry-Aparna steals the show
'Divo celebrated anniversary in style
Great entertainment evening in Mumbai

It was yet another memorable evening in Mumbai, this time in Dr. Antonio Highshool open hall on 6th April, 2002 evening.

The occasion was the leading Konkanni weekly 'Divo's 7th anniversary celebration with mixture of cultural entertainment including, 'Gumtam' (Traditional Folk Songs).

Henry D`Souza & Aparna Mayekar most liked duet pair of konkanni songs entertained the audience with their many magic numbers. Clement Lobo also joined Henry for famous number 'Kumpar'.

The programme started with traditional lighting the lamps with some well wishers of Divo weekly. A minute silence was observed to the memory of deceased Konkanni writers.


In the main event of the function, Mr. Francis Fernandes, Cascia, renowned Konkanni dramatist felicitated by his stage associate of olden days Mr. Henry D`Silva , Surathkal on behalf of Divo weekly. Before this, convener of leading Konkanni community Portal Daijidubai.com Mr. Walter Nandalike introduced Mr. Fernandes to the audience. Mr. Emiyar Mumbai read the citation (Maan-Potr), Mr. Sannu Monis , Moodubelle also presented Citation to Mr. Fernandes on behalf of Konkanni association.
Mr. Fernades replied to the felicitation in a emotional and moving tone.

He thanked especially all those who felicitated in Mumbai and encouraged in his philanthropic work. He also thanked Editor and team of Divo for all the trouble taken to honor him.

'Divo' 7th annual issue titled '100 years of Konkanni stage' was released during the programme. Four other books ' Sopan Porki Zuze' a play based on Bible by Shri J.B. moraes 'Amchim aadlim kaazaram' of Shri V. D'Silva 'Mukavaram ani Movlam'( Part 2) of Shri J.B. Sequiera .
 


Henry D`Paula's 'Savalancher Uzwad' (Part 2) was released by Mr. Walter, Nandalike.

A token of appreciation was presented to all the staffs of Divo and special gift presented to Mr. Walter Lasrado, the Asst. Editor of Divo.

Entertainment part was widely enjoyed by the crowd. Henry and Aparna were showed their top performance, Two Konkanni skits were presented by Shri Pintham Derebail and his troops. The skits were written by Mr. Ferandes and directed by Shri Pintham.

A group of artists from Mangalore presented 'Gumtam'( traditional folks usually during wedding in the olden times ) to the delight of audience.

Mr. Walter Nandalike who specially flew from Dubai to be present on the occasion compered the show and won wide appreciation from Mumbai's konkanni loving crowd. Mr. Clement Lobo another senior and popular compere of Mumbai and Konkanni writer Mr. Naveen Kulshekar compered second and third part of the event.

Mrs. Susan Coelho welcomed the gathering in the initial part and Mr. Lawrence Coelho dynamic editor of Divo weekly made introductory remarks. Shri Lawrence D`Souza, Kamani extended vote of thanks.


Many leading Konkanni writers from Mangalore, Mumbai were present during the occasion. Mrs. Gladys rego Daijidubai sahithya award winner for 2002, Mr. Henry D'Silva, Mr. A.F. Pinto, Mr. V.P. Lobo, Mr. Walter Dsouza, Mr. Henry D`Paula, Mr. Lawrence Coelho, Mr. Walter Nandalike, Mr. Lawrence D`Souza, and others were present on the stage during the felicitations ceremony.

The Four hours programme was concluded with a stupendous dinner, provided by Swad Caterers.
