KONKANI KULLVAAR, KUWAIT RELEASES THREE KONKANI BOOKS - AN UNIQUE FEET IN THE HISTORY OF KONKANI LITERATURE IN THE GULF

Kuwait, August 5:History
has been created in the Middle East on 2nd August 2002 when
three Konkanni books were released during a function organized
by Konkanni Kullvaar Kuwait (KKK) - the Konkanni Writer's Forum
in Kuwait.
The function was started by a prayer song by leading Konkanni
singer Rony D'Cunha. While Mr. George Pinto welcomed the guests,
Mr. Lancy Pinto introduced them to the audience. Mr. George
Pinto in his speech introduced the book 'Kullvaarchen daiz'. He
also explained the various works organized and conducted by KKK.
Mr. Lawrence Pinto - the honourable Chief Guest then inaugurated
the book and gave a call to the Konkanni people to support
konkani writers as they are the one responsible for creating the
awareness amongst the Konkani people. He also highlighted the
efforts of Mr. Johnny, Surathkal for each and every Konkanni
function and his dedicated work behind the screens with
ever-cheerful mood and face.
Another Chief Guest Mr. Veronico Fernandes, General Secretary of
Konkanni Heritage Kuwait, honoured all the writers and poets,
who had contributed for "Kullvaarchen Daiz" with a certificate
and a copy of the book.

Mrs. Ida DSilva, Paladka introduced Mr.Valley Quadras, Ajekar's
book 'ASHAWADI'. It was then released by Chief guest Mr. John
Paul Fernandes. Mr. Valley Quadras, Ajekar in his speech urged
'The need for every Konkanni son/daughter to work for Konkanni'.
In the second part, George Pinto welcomed the Chief Guest Rev.
Fr. Melwin DCunha. Mr. Johnny Surathkal read the 'MANPOTR' for
Lancy Pinto and offered it to the writer. Rev. Fr. Melwin DCunha
released a new book "Khill" by the author and honoured him with
a shawl and a memento on behalf of KKK. He applauded the work
carried out by the writers of KKK.

A Kavitha Ghosti was organized during the function, wherein
Poets Mr. Lancy Rodrigues, Mrs. Ida DSilva, Mr.Valley Quadras,
Mr. Lancy Pinto Nayak, Mr. Johnny Surathkal, and Mr. StanRo
Ajekar recited their poems. Mr. Rony DCunha, Mr. Joy Fernandes,
Mrs. Venisha Fernandes, Mr. Jayson Lasrado and Mrs. Reema
Lasrado sung various songs composed by Late. Cha. Fra. DCosta,
Mr. George Pinto and Mr. Panchu Bantwal.
The Konkanni Quiz contest was won by Mrs. Ida DSilva, Paladka
and StanRo, Ajekar. Mono-acting by Mrs. Ida Lobo, Agrar
entertained the audience.
Mr. Johnny Surathkal gave vote of thanks.
