KARNATAKA Rajyothsava Prashasthi to Paul Moras Mangalore, November 01: Konkani activist Mr. Paul Moras is one of 17 people who were selected for Year 2002 South Kanara District Level Rajyothsava Award winners. Paul was born in 1952 Bantwal, Navoor and then his parents settled down in Mangalore. His brother Mr. Patrick Moras, a famous Konkani Short Story writer gave him the taste of Konkani literature. Completed his B.A. from St. Aloysius College, Mangalore and studied Journalism at Sandesha Prathishtan, Mangalore. Mr. Paul has a postgraduate certificate in Konkani from Konkani Institute, Mangalore.Mr. Paul was very active in several associations in Mangalore and in 1989 became the president of Konkani Bhasha Mandal (R), Karnataka. He was honoured publicly as 'Mahan Konkani Karbhari' in 1993 by Konkani Bhasha Mandal, Karnataka. He organised several Konkani programmes and honoured Henry D'Souza, V. L. Rego, C. F. D'Costa, and others. He was the president of Lions Club in Mangalore for the year 1994-95 and also received several awards form Lions International, Mithra Vranda, Kapikad, etc., to name a few. This year his research book in Konkani, 'Konkani Challvoll' a research and study on Konkani Movement in Konkani (Kannada Script) was published by Konkani Institute, St. Aloysius College, Mangalore which will be eligible for several awards in coming years. With all of his accomplishments, now he is recognised for Rajyothsava Award by South Kanara District which he deserve the most. On November, 1 during a jubilant programme jointly conducted by Kannada Sahithya Parishath and Kannada and Sanskriti Department and Public Education Department he was honored with this prestigious award with other 16 honourees.
