Association's diamond jubilee
Mumbai, July 1:
St. Paul Catholic Association celebrated its diamond jubilee at its auditorium at Port, Mumbai. As a part of its celebration, Fr. William Nazareth celebrated Holy Mass at Holy Name Cathedral, Colaba. Programme was presided over by Model Co-operative Bank Ltd. executive president Mr. John D'Silva. For the future generation our ancestors established one shelter. We too should walk in their thoughts and make this shelter available to future youth he said in his speech.Ex police commissioner Mr. Rony H. Mendonca was the chief guest who said that this association gave shelter to thousands of youth who came to Mumbai in search of employment. Many people who were sheltered here are living a fruitful life with hard work. Stay in this association is something special and with more focus. Mother Konkani's culture, religious activities were saved by this association and played a major role in the life of those who sheltered here. Because of this association, today Konkani spread all over Mumbai he said.
Fr. Godwyn Cardelo gave blessings. Divo Konkani Weekly newspaper editor Mr.
Lawrence Coelho teacher/social worker Mrs. Benedicta Rebello were the
honoured guests who were on the dais. During this programme, Mr. Rony
Mendonca inaugurated association's computer office. Past president Mr. F.
X. Saldanha who passed away recently due to an accident was remembered at
this programme. Association president Mr. Hilary Fernandes gave
introductory speech. Vice president Mr. Frank Cardoza welcomed the
gathering, chief secretary Mr. Richard D'Souza proposed vote of thanks.
