MR. RICHARD W. MORAS

IFPMM PRESIDENT

 Mr. Richard W. Moras has taken over as International President of IFPMM (International Federation of Purchasing and Materials Management) for a period of 2 years. He is the first Indian to achieve this highest honour.

 IFPMM having its Headquarters at Vienna, Austria, is a federation consisting of 42 Member Associations spread all over the Continents of Europe, North and South America, Asia, Africa and Australasia.  Within this circle, about 200,000 purchasing professionals can be reached, who are responsible for trillions of Dollars of Global Commerce.  IFPMM facilitates the development and distribution of knowledge to elevate and advance the procurement and supply management profession, thus favourably improving the standard of living of citizens worldwide, through advanced business practices. 

 Mr. Moras took over as World President of IFPMM on 25th October 2001, at Sun City, South Africa.  The glittering ceremony was attended by over 500 global supply chain leaders coming from all Continents.  In this acceptance speech at Sun City, Mr. Moras has emphasized the importance of Supply Chain, development of various nation states, education, research and has dedicated his entire life for the upliftment of profession through service to the humanity in the field of education and research.

 Born in Siddakatte, Bantwal Taluk of Dakshina Kannada, Mr. Moras did his schooling from Padva High School, Mangalore, and thereafter finished his B.Sc. from St. Aloysius College, Mangalore.  He did his Masters in Sociology from Karnataka University, Dharwad and acquired Graduate Diploma in Materials Management from Indian Institute of Materials Management, Mumbai.  He also underwent a special training from ISI Institute, Chennai, for manufacturing and Analysis of Pesticides.

 Mr. R. W. Moras is currently the Vice President (Materials) of Concept Pharmaceuticals Limited, Mumbai handling supply chain activities of this organization.  With excellent academic qualifications and specifically a Gold Medalist in GDMM, Mr. Moras occupied various positions in Indian Institute of Materials Management prior to his International Presidency he occupied the position of National Presidency of IIMM.  Recipient of various awards including UNITOP Award, Best Teacher Award, IIMM conferred on him the highest The National Award for his contribution to the profession.

 Mr. Moras’ contribution as the Secretary General of World Congress of IFPMM in Mumbai in 1993, was another milestone in his dedicated service to the cause of Materials profession.

 Hailing from a well-known Moras family, Mr. Richard was very active right from his younger days in the field of sports, leadership and dramatics   Son of Late Mr. Bonaventure Moras and Late Mrs. Tekla Vas nee Moras, the then Zilla Parishad Member, the entire family engaged in active politics for the service of the humanity.

 Mr. Richard initially worked in Mysore Agro Chemicals as Manufacturing Chemist and thereafter moved to Mumbai and took the commercial positions in Sales, Marketing and Materials Management.  He has over 30 years of working experience and has contributed immensely for the growth of various organizations.

 Besides his active involvement at Concept Pharmaceuticals Limited, as Vice President (Materials) and President of IFPMM, Mr. Moras is a well known faculty at National and International level.  He has been invited by various global Universities and travels world wide including European Economic Forum and American Management Association to present papers.

 It is a proud moment for all Mangaloreans  and all Indians to have a true world leader among its ranks.
