Personality Development Training at ISD
"A value based leadership is need of the hour. A good personality is like perfume to the flower. Everybody is attracted to them. We should know our potential and act. Soon the success will be ours."said Rev.Dr.Ronald Cutinha, Director of ISD, at the valedictory of the New Ray Personality Development course at the Institute for Social Development (ISD) on 25.08.2002.
"We design several things in life, such as houses, buildings, land, flowers, clothes etc. But we do not pay attention to design our life. Designing life will result in good personality," said Dr. Mahadeva Hejamady, a free lance HRD trainer, chairing the closing ceremony.
New Ray Institute of Personality development successfully conducted a 2 1/2 month course on Integrated Personality Development. 17 trainees have been awarded certificates. The Self-confidence, aim in life, value based leadership, personal relationship etc. The Institute’s Director, Mr. Theodore Lasrado who was also the resource person welcomed. Vice president of Keerthi Adventures Institute, Mrs.Flossy and Secretary Mr.Santhosh were present on the Dais. Mr. Theodore Lasrado was the resource person of the course
Women is responsible for her Empowerment - Rev.Dr.Cutinha
"Women and men compliment one another, and they are not competitors. Woman is responsible and can bring about empowerment by herself. However, a suitable environment has to be created which will enable women to be aware of their rights, opportunities through reservations, fight against exploitation, get inspiration from the lives of the great, and be economically empowered through employment; in short, be completely empowered. We have to begin now and fruits will be reaped later", said Rev. Ronald Cutinha at the Women’s Meet held at Shirva and organized by Catholic Women Council, Shirva unit on 25.8.2002.
Mr.Praveen Anchan and Melwin Aranha of ICICI, Manipal branchand Mrs.Precilla Mathias, President of Women Council were on the dais. Mrs. Lilly Tauro welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Mary Machado conveyed vote of thanks. Mrs. Veronica Mathais compered and 125 women participated.
‘Recharge ground water-through Rainwater harvesting’ - Henry Waldar
"We lift ground water for our daily requirements with new technologies from very deep underground reservoirs. Human activities like construction of roads, buildings, agriculture and deforestation, grass grazing by animals have prevented rainwater reaching underground reservoirs. Human activities in cities and towns hinder rainwater percolation resulting in artificial flooding. Rainwater percolation is a natural phenomina when it is prevented leads to water scarcity " said Mr. Henry Valdar, Agriculturist and resource person of Samanvaya Trust, Mangalore. He was speaking on rainwater harvesting in a programme held at Moodperar church hall organized jointly by Catholic Sabha and CODP Mangalore on 25.08.2002. Samanvaya organizes and shares its expertise on watershed, rain water harvesting and soil conservation in D.K. district.
